From the year 2011, the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection started conducting CWE or the Common Written Examination for the recruitment of clerks and officers in the Indian banks. The exam is conducted for selection of the right candidates for job roles across the country’s 27 Regional Rural Banks and Public Sector Banks.

IBPS PO 2018 Vacancies

20 lakh plus aspirants of bank jobs appear for this IBPS bank PO exam each year. The official notice regarding the no. of vacancies will be released on the official website of IBPS shortly. In 2017, 3760 vacancies were introduced for the IBPS PO examination. It is expected that the figures would be similar to the year 2018 as well.

The IBPS Probationary Officer selection process is made up of 3 levels/phases. These are the preliminary, mains, and the interview. For getting to the next phase a candidate needs to qualify each one of them.

IBPS PO Preliminary Examination Pattern

The IBPS PO prelim exam is of the duration of an hour. It is made of 3 sections that sum up to 100 questions with the same maximum score. There is also a negative marking of 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer. A candidate needs to clear the set cut-off in every section so as to move on to the Mains level. IBPS PO Interviews  

Once a candidate qualifies the main examination, he or she is called for the next round which is the Face-Face interview. This carries a maximum 100 marks in the whole process. The qualifying marks (minimum) for the interview are 45% for unreserved category and 35% for PWD/OBC/ST/SC candidates.

Final Marks Calculation of IBPS PO Examination

Here is how the total score for the IBPS PO examination is calculated:

  • Marks that are obtained in the Tier-1 (Preliminary Exam) are not considered while calculating the final score rather they are only considered as to qualify for the Tier-2 (Mains Exam).
  • A candidate needs to qualify the Interview and Tier-2 separately so as to become eligible for the Final Merit.
  • The weightage of the interview and CWE Main examination for calculation of the eventual merit list is 20:80 respectively.
  • The collective score from total i.e.: 100 is taken for the calculation of the final merit list of each category. Individuals who have top rank in the merit list in each of the categories are selected finally.

Educational Qualification:-
Eligibility Criteria for IBPS PO-2018

Language Proficiency: Written and verbal proficiency in the authorized language of UT/State is desirable. The applicant should be capable of speaking, reading and writing the language.

Computer Literacy: A working knowledge about computers is compulsory for this job role and also for appearing in the PO examination that is conducted through online mode.

Graduation Degree: For being eligible to give the examination a general graduation degree in B. Tech, BSc, B Com, BA, or any such discipline from the University that is recognized by Government of India. The applicant must possess a Degree Certificate/ Mark sheet which certifies and specifies that the applicant is a graduate on registration date of this examination and the percentage of obtained marks in the graduation as well. 

Eligibility criteria of candidates for applying in the IBPS PO Exam 2018

An individual who applies for IBPS CWE exam shouldn’t be younger than 20 years in age. Also, a candidate should not be more than 30 years in age on the day of registration. As per the government rules, the age relaxation that applies to various categories is given below in detail.
